m3i was designed from the start for complete customisation on the various UIs & control panels and to be able to seamlessly integrate external applications and their data at the system level. The benefits to developers overlap with those of dealers and solution providers but differ in which layers of the platform are important. Let's face facts! Developing solutions on real-time embedded platforms is non-trivial. It requires an understanding of the machine and its processes. For Ricoh development, you have to be on the RiDP Program and to deal with compliance, Quality Assurance and a host of other issues.

Often customers want some fairly basic customisation where creating an application is not commercially feasible - with m3i its easy.

m3i not only lowers the technical entry barrier for development on Ricoh MFDs, it also removes financial and compliance requirements as we have effectively already taken care of that.

m3i is built on open standards. We use all the usual web-based technologies. Feel free to check the development documentation.

m3i is also big on security. Authentication, encryption and special Trusted Clients all make for a robust system. This is necessary as it processes monetary values when used with a Copy Accounting system and we are aware that some of our target environments actively encourage their students to hack network systems.

m3iR describes the functionality of the MFD in an abstract way using attributes. These might describe scan colour or number of copies or any other built-in feature. The Machine Definition can be extended and redefined to include any data that you may want to make part of the system. All the m3i UIs and components can react to these additional attributes that you create and you can easily incorporate your external application data into the system.

By virtue of the work we do with Ricoh on our SDK/J applications to ensure compatibility and compliance, you can rest assured that your solution will be immediately able to run safely on Ricoh MFDs.

You can easily integrate external applications using .NET or Java toolkits with example projects or, alternatively, you can interact directly with m3i if you have a non-PC environment or are using a lightweight (embedded) client.

We could also provide a Native C toolkit if there is demand for it.

You can take advantage of customisable m3i User Interfaces, devices and solutions that are offered not just by selectec but also, in the future, by the developer community we are building.

Request a branded partner version of the online registration/service portal.
