The m3i Device Manager is our new installer technology for the m3i platform. Due to the number of components in the platform and the rapidly growing Solution Store we needed to build a much easier method of delivering solutions and customisations for customers and partners.
m3i solutions are designed specifically to make life easy for the end-user and so, by their very nature, can be complex to install and configure. This, while great for the user, requires a level of awareness on the part of the installer or administrator and we hope to remove as much of this as possible. We believe we have taken great strides toward this goal with the first version of the Device Manager and over time we will incrementally improve the experience. ![]() Version 1.0 of the Device Manger is released today to selected partners. The operational metaphor for the Device Manger is to automatically locate suitable devices (Ricoh MFDs currently) on your network so that you can easily install m3i components and solution packages onto them. The work flow is: search, identify, remember, license, assign packages and then install. Complex solutions can be rolled out to hundreds of devices in minutes. V1.0 Key Features:
All future m3i solutions and components will be delivered via the Device Manger to make life as easy as possible. Packages are delivered in a file with an m3ip extension. These packages also contain any screen shots or documentation that the installer requires. The dev team hopes that the Device Manger will make installing m3i solutions much easier. Enjoy. |
